Fleetio: setting a vehicle's status to In Shop
Walk through a vehicle status change in Fleetio: find Unit 2100 on the vehicle list, open its record, change its status from Active to In Shop, then confirm on the fleet list that everyone can see it's off the road.
When a truck goes in for a repair or a recall, its status needs to change to In Shop so dispatchers and drivers can see right away that it isn't available.
In this walkthrough you'll find a 2016 Ford F-150 named “Unit 2100” in your fleet, change its status to In Shop and confirm the change on the vehicle list.
Before you start: You don't need a Fleetio login to click through this example. Following the same task in a live Fleetio account requires a user with permission to edit vehicles.
What this walkthrough covers
- Opening Vehicles, then Vehicle List
- Reading the Status column, where Unit 2100 shows Active
- Opening the vehicle record for 2100 [2016 Ford F-150]
- Clicking the status under the vehicle name and choosing In Shop
- Seeing Fleetio save the change right away, with no Save button
- Confirming on the vehicle list that Unit 2100 now shows In Shop
How to use it
A vehicle's status is how the rest of the team knows whether a truck can be dispatched. When a vehicle goes in for a repair or a recall and nobody changes its status, a dispatcher can still assign it and a driver can show up for a truck that's on a lift.
The change takes a few clicks, but it's easy to miss because Fleetio saves the new status immediately, with no Save button. The walkthrough points that out and ends on the fleet list, so learners see what everyone else sees.
Pair it with the work order walkthrough so new staff learn both halves of sending a truck to the shop.
This is one of three example software task guides for a fleet onboarding SOP. The others show adding a vehicle and creating a work order. Each one uses its own sample vehicle, and a team can pick the tasks each role needs. See how they fit together on Demo Maker Pro for fleet teams.
How it was built
The workflow was recorded in Chrome with Demo Maker Pro while clicking through the real interface at a 1536 x 864 window. Each captured step keeps the page's HTML, CSS and text instead of flattening the screen into an image, so it stays sharp at any size.
The tooltips, the opening card and the finish screen were added afterwards in the desktop editor, then the walkthrough was published to Demo Maker Pro hosting. The same project can be exported as a single HTML file instead.

Frequently asked questions
Does this walkthrough work offline?
The copy on this page is published to Demo Maker Pro hosting, so it needs a network connection. Any walkthrough made with Demo Maker Pro can also be exported as a single self-contained HTML file, which opens locally without an internet connection, from a laptop or a USB drive. A copy hosted on an intranet or LMS needs access to that host.
Do viewers need a Fleetio account?
No. The walkthrough is a captured copy of a Fleetio trial account with sample vehicles and drivers, so anyone can click through it without a login or a subscription.
Can I make a walkthrough like this for my own system?
Yes. If the system runs in Chrome or Edge, Demo Maker Pro records it as you click and turns the flow into an interactive HTML demo you own.
