An example: dealerships, rental fleets and delivery companies

A fleet software company sells to dealerships, rental fleets and delivery companies. It records one demo of its product in Demo Maker Pro.

Each industry gets a saved version of that demo, called a personality. The wording and values each audience should see are saved in its personality.

In Salesforce, the rep picks the deal's Segment from a dropdown. The Demo link field on the deal then shows Open personalized demo.

That link opens the personality for the deal's industry, with the customer's company name already filled in from the Account.

How a personalized demo link works

A published Demo Maker Pro link can carry two settings after the address:

The Salesforce formula writes both settings from fields on the deal, so nobody builds a link by hand.

You don't need separate demo automation software or a CRM connector for this. A standard Salesforce formula field builds the link, and Demo Maker Pro shows the personalized product demo.

Set it up in three steps

Step 1. Create the personalities in Demo Maker Pro

  1. Open your demo and add a variable named company.
  2. Turn on Allow changes from link for that variable.
  3. Create one personality per audience, for example Dealership, Rental and Delivery, and save each audience's values in it.
  4. Leave company blank in every personality, so the company name comes from the link.
  5. Publish the demo. The demo id is the long code in its link: demos.demomakerpro.com/<your demo id>/.

Step 2. Add a Segment picklist to the Opportunity

  1. In Salesforce, open Setup from the gear icon at the top right.
  2. Go to Object Manager, then Opportunity, then Fields & Relationships, and click New.
  3. Choose Picklist and label it Segment.
  4. Enter one value per line: Dealership, Rental, Delivery.
  5. Keep the visibility settings as they are, keep Opportunity Layout ticked, and click Save.

Step 3. Add the Demo link formula field

  1. In Fields & Relationships, click New again.
  2. Choose Formula, label it Demo link and set the return type to Text.
  3. On the Advanced Formula tab, paste the formula below and replace <your demo id> with your demo's id.
  4. Click Check Syntax. Green text saying No syntax errors means it is right.
  5. Click Next twice, keep Opportunity Layout ticked, and click Save.

The Salesforce HYPERLINK formula

Copy this into the Demo link formula field. Segment__c is the API name Salesforce gives a custom field labeled Segment.

HYPERLINK("https://demos.demomakerpro.com/<your demo id>/?set=" & CASE(TEXT(Segment__c), "Dealership", "dealership", "Rental", "rental", "Delivery", "delivery", "dealership") & "&company=" & SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(SUBSTITUTE(Account.Name, "%", "%25"), "&", "%26"), "#", "%23"), " ", "%20"), "Open personalized demo", "_blank")

Change the three Segment values and set names to match your own personalities. The last "dealership" in the CASE is the fallback when no Segment is picked.

Why SUBSTITUTE instead of URLENCODE

Salesforce does not allow URLENCODE in formula fields. A formula that uses it fails with "Function URLENCODE may not be used in this type of formula."

The SUBSTITUTE chain does the same job for the characters that break a link: %, &, # and spaces.

The % sign is replaced first, so the codes added for the other characters are not encoded a second time.

What each part does

Part of the formulaWhat it does
HYPERLINK("...?set=" & ...)Builds a clickable link that starts with your demo's address
CASE(TEXT(Segment__c), "Dealership", "dealership", ...)Turns the Segment choice into the personality's set name
"&company=" & SUBSTITUTE(...Account.Name...)Adds the Account Name, with %, &, # and spaces encoded
"Open personalized demo"The link text reps see on the deal
"_blank"Opens the demo in a new browser tab

Tested with company names picked to break it

Tested on October 26, 2026 in a Salesforce trial org. Each deal opened the right personality with the exact company name.

What the rep does

The rep does one thing: picks the Segment when creating or editing a deal.

The Demo link fills in when the deal is saved. Clicking it opens the personalized demo in a new tab.

Questions

Can I personalize interactive demos from Salesforce?

Yes. A Salesforce formula field can generate personalized interactive demo links for Demo Maker Pro, selecting a saved version based on the deal's industry and filling in the company name from the Account. The audience's values are saved in the version, so reps reuse them instead of entering them again for each prospect.

Do reps have to type values?

No. A rep picks the Segment when creating or editing a deal, and the formula builds the link when the deal is saved. Each audience's values are saved once in its personality, not typed for each prospect.

Does it work with special characters like & and #?

Yes, for the characters tested. The formula encodes %, &, # and spaces before they go into the link. Acme Fleet & Sons, Sun & Sand Rentals #2, Northline Delivery 100% Co and O'Brien's Auto Group all showed the exact company name. Other symbols, such as + or ?, were not tested.

Is there a native integration?

No. Demo Maker Pro has no native Salesforce integration. A standard Salesforce formula field builds the link, and nothing is written back to Salesforce.

Why can't I use URLENCODE in the formula?

Salesforce does not allow URLENCODE in formula fields. The SUBSTITUTE chain on this page encodes %, &, # and spaces instead, replacing % first so nothing is encoded twice.
